Cabbage Vada

This dish is used as a side dish. This can be done with drumstick (maskasangi) flowers instead of cabbage. (In North Canara, almost everybody will have drum stick trees at home).

1. Shredded Cabbage 1 cup
2. Onions cut into small pieces 1 cup
3. Red chillies 4-5
4. Jaggery 2 tspns
5. Coriander seeds 1 tspn
6. Urad Daal 1 tspn
7. Coconut 1/2 cup
8. Toor Daal 2 table spns
9. Oil
10. Rava(sooji)

Soak Toor daal in water for 10-15min. Heat 1tspn oil. Fry coriander seeds and urad daal. Grind with coconut, soaked daal, jaggery,red chillies and salt using minimum quantity of water. Mix the ground masala with cabbage & onion. Make small balls and press with the palm to make it flat. Apply rava and shallow fry on a tava.
Serve hot.
