Daal (Daali Thoy)

This is the first recipe learnt by all konkani people when they start cooking.

Ingredients:
1. Toor Daal 1 cup
2. Green chillies 3-4
3. Ginger 1 inch piece
4. Turmeric powder
5. Coriander leaves
6. Ghee or oil 2 tspn
7. Mustard or garlic for seasoning
8. Asafoetida
9. Curry leaves
10.Tomato(optional) 1

Method:
Cook Daal with a pinch of turmeric, green chilles, tomato cut into pieces(optinal) and finely cut ginger. Heat the cooked daal. Add salt.Garnish with finely cut coriander leaves.
Heat ghee or oil. Add mustard or gralic. Add curry leaves. Add asafoetida. Add this seasoning to the cooked daal.
Serve with hot rice and ghee.
